A million miles later…an update on Dash
It’s been almost a year now since we publicly unveiled the Dash Express at the DEMO show. Since that time, we know that many of you have been patiently waiting for the launch of the Dash Express. We thank you for hanging in there. Although it is taking longer than we expected to ship, we’re making huge progress and we’re well on our way to delivering an even better product.
The past several months we’ve been in heavy test mode. We were blown away when 53,000 people signed up to test drive the Dash Express in April. Over 2,000 of you have been driving day in and out, logging over one million miles during the Dash National Road Test. Wow!
In this process we’ve gathered lots of feedback about what people like and dislike. We’ve collected valuable traffic and routing data to build out our historical models – which means more accurate ETAs. And, we’ve watched people change their daily rituals – checking traffic before they head to work, sending addresses to their cars and using Yahoo! Local to search for everything.
We’ve been very busy applying these learnings to refine the final Dash Express experience. We’ll be talking more about the evolution of the product here on the blog. We’ll tell you more about our new industrial design. And, we’ll start showing you the many software refinements.
Given the amount of changes that are underway, we’re planning to launch commercially during Q1 2008. While we are very eager to get the Dash Express to market, we also want to take the time needed to ensure a great end-to-end experience. We’re getting closer every day!
