Tracking the fires in Southern California
Posted by Dash Navigation on October, 24 in Off Topic
Dash is headquartered in Northern California but we are very concerned about the fires spreading across Southern California. Thousands of homes have burned down, there are hundreds of thousands of evacuees, and every hour conditions are changing.
To help disseminate information in a timely and useful fashion a number of news outlets are utilizing Google Maps Mashups. One of the maps I have been following is from the LA Times which provides a great high level view of the events unfolding:
KBPS from San Diego has built an incredibly detailed map of the events down in the San Diego area:Until these fires are contained we will be tracking the events in Southern California closely through these maps and other more traditional sources. In the mean time we will be pulling hard for things to take a turn for the better.

Since these goolge maps were added, I can’t subscribe to your blog’s RSS feed — IE7 is complaining about “Internet Explorer does not support feeds with DTDs.”
Any chance this could be looked into?
Thanks much!

Steve,
Sorry to hear you are having problems subscribing to the feed. Is anyone else having this problem? I tested this in IE7 today and it worked for me, but if this is a problem for others I will pull the embedded maps to see if that fixes it.
