MyDash adds forums

Posted by Dash Navigation on April, 7 in Uncategorized

Some of the best parts about the Dash Express product development cycle here at Dash were the interactions we had with all our testers. While some loved the “Dash Meet-ups” (dinners) we hosted across the country, I know most of us really enjoyed engaging with our testers in our forums. The forums provided a place for us to talk in-depth about the product and the service. It turned into a place for people to talk to each other about the cool content that was developing in MyDash, to talk about the traffic data in a specific metropolitan area, to find other Dash users in their area, or to just chat about the product. So I am happy to report that tonight we launched a new version of MyDash, in which we have integrated forums to allow our customers to talk directly with each other and Dash employees. I know this is going to be a great experience since it took less than 3 minutes from the time the forums launched until we got our first post! Don’t worry, we will keep up the blogging and discussions in the comments, but if you are a Dash owner be sure to check out the new forums!

It would be nice if non-customers could also access the forums. For one, I would love to see the opinions that current dash owners are posting.

  2. Dave Brown Says:

I too would love to read the forums - but am not YET a Dash owner.

  3. Matt Doar Says:

I *am* a dash owner, and I think that the forums should be open to all. Reading forums is part of the research I do before buying something.

Don’t fret my friends, we are working through getting a destination site together where both owners and non-owners can talk with each other. It won’t happen over night, but it will happen.

  5. Mike Says:

I already purchased my dash and should be getting it tomarrow. I have been dying to read the forums and start browsing some of the features in “My Dash”.

  6. Steve Says:

    Dash Meet-ups? That’d be interesting… :)

  7. David Says:

Honestly not sure why you feel you need a members-only forum. Do you see it as an incentive to purchase?

I haven’t gotten a DASH yet because I am waiting to hear much more about how it is doing, and if all the DASH owners go away and talk in a secret forum, then I may never get one…. I need to hear a LOT from them first about how it is really working before I give up my current navigation device and switch. I will NOT be carrying two in my car.

    I agree with David.
I am very interested in the Dash Express, but much of the information from owners has dried up now that they have their own forum.
I used to read people’s experiences & suggestions about the DE every day. I was very interested to read impressions of how it was working for people in different areas of the country.
I’m not going to buy one until I read that certain problems have been addressed, and now that I’m no longer up to date on how things are going I find myself actually less interested in getting one.

  9. Vinnie Says:

Add me to the list with Jeff. I’ve been closely monitoring the blogs and user comments. That source has now completely dried up. As a result, I’m finding myself less compelled to buy.

Not happy with mine! Just cancelled service and am out $400.00 Worst GPS I have owned! I have had many over past 10 or so years.

  11. Mark Williamson Says:

Sam - I am sorry you weren’t happy with your Dash. Just so you know, we have a 30 day return policy (as does Amazon) so if you just return the product you should get your money back. Also, if you are interested in providing us feedback on the product please feel free to email me directly with your thoughts: Mark AT dash.net

First of all let me start with I am sure that everyone that is a DE owner is a gadget person in one way or another. There are various reasons that everyone decided to take the plunge and purchase one for his or her own needs.
As we all know the tech world can change at the drop of a dime for any number of various reasons. There is always something right around the corner waiting to be released to the public somethings work some are vaporware.
Spite all the hype and hooplah..some may work for you and others may not.
Just think back over the course of the past 10 years how many items had a rough start and it took a few teaks and revisions to get things up to speed.
For example most recent is the Iphone some love it from the start others there where things with the Iphone that just didnt work for there own needs..Playstation 3… some fell in love with it others said blah its not for me.
Remember the start of the Treo damn that was ugly also..but Palm got it right over the course of time.Blackberry was the same way and look where they are today.
The Ipod has had its share of problems in the beginning and new ones surface often.
Within the world of GPS.Remember when they first hit the market and the prices where off the charts.. but as time passed more features came out and the prices started to drop.
In todays world “what have you done for me lately”As your self this question the DE is a brand new product and how many products that you have owned where perfect right out of the box to fit your own needs.
All GPS have different features that are marketed towards the masses,I just received my DE today about an hour ago.As someone that drives for a living I will put this device through it paces and see what happens and make a choice when the time is right. And if it doesnt work for me so be it I might have to return it.But I do realize that I cant compare the DE to anything on the market because of the features connected to it. Yes there are GPS that are out basic ones that get you from point A to point B.

Any hope of joining the forums without owning a DASH? As I’ve mentioned before, reading the forums is what would be most likely to spark my interest (and therefore, presumably, that of many others like me) in owning one.
