DashApp Spotlight: Trapster… Reloaded

Trapster®, an inaugural DashApp partner developer, has incorporated community feedback and leveraged our June software update to implement a new free service. Previously, Dash Express customers had access to a real time speed trap exchange system including a growing database of nearly 40,000 static enforcement points, such as known hot spots and red light cameras, plus the ability to report the same right from their GPS. However, today Trapster has introduced a new DashApp that provides these same real time alerts automatically along a driver’s route - delivered directly to the Dash Express.
Many local drivers already know the usual enforcement points in their area, and travelers have for years been able to download databases of static speed trap POIs. But, 99% of the time the police are not at any given known enforcement point. What’s most useful is an alert that identifies where police actually have radar or laser set up right now, and to share the location of these traps with others in real time. We’re pleased to announce this is exactly what the new features allow Dash Express customers to do. -Pete Tenereillo, President and Founder, Trapster.com

Does anyone have this working? I’ve tried this several ways, including using the DDN as well as the Nickname and I never get notified of anything. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Nah, looks good on paper, but implementation stinks!

It will only be as good as we make it. Like most social media applications and like the Dash traffic info, the data available depends on our input. Unlike the Dash traffic info, which is passively fed, we need to actively alert Trapster. It’s a pain to enter info about traps on the Dash since you need to switch to the Trapster application to do so, but having the application on my phone makes it much easier now.

Hi Dave,
I used to live in Spain and the police used to announce in advance (in the local the newspaper) when and where they wuld be setting up their speed traps.
What’s the chances of them doing that here?! LOL
