Did someone say voice recognition?

Posted by Dave Zatz on September, 10 in Dash Express

We’re psyched to announce that two leading voice service providers, Tellme and Dial Directions, have leveraged our open platform to extend the Dash experience to the landline or mobile phone. For the first time, our community now has voice control of the Dash user interface. These new voice search and voice address entry features (free!) allow Dash customers to wirelessly send information to their cars via phone.

If you’re already a Dash driver, you can call voice services pioneer Tellme at 1-800-CALL-411 (1-800-225-5411) or 1-800-555-TELL (1-800-555-8355) and search for businesses, by name or category, anywhere in the United States using only your voice. Once you’ve identified the relevant result, that name, street address and phone number will be sent wirelessly to your Dash Express device - arriving in just a few seconds. While the “other guys” with voice recognition are limited to searching for info residing on the device, Tellme searches all of the internet.

Want to send a destination address or intersection? Just call 1-DIRECTIONS (which is an easy mnemonic for 1-347-328-4667) and speak any address or intersection in the U.S. Instantly, the destination appears on your Dash Express device, ready for routing. Dial Directions’ offering increases usability and hands-free safety by providing the simplest input - a phone call. Remote access comes in handy, too, since Dash users can send a destination address even when they’re away from their cars. Check it out:

We know that Dash users love Send2Car. And with the addition of voice entry via phone, you can now have the same functionality on the move - before or after you get into the car. Extending the Dash connected navigation platform to voice is just one more way that Dash continues to add value to our community. To use these new features, register your phone number at My.Dash.Net.

Trying to set this up. but first of all can’t see a spot on my account page to put my phone number to associate as you put it. Then when I call the number listed to sent directtions, it doesn’t refer or mention dash exdpress users, very confusing.

Bob, click the Account tab within My.Dash.net - Next to your Dash device is an edit button. If you haven’t previously associated a phone number with your Dash Express, you’ll be able to add one (or change one) here. Calling in will not work without registering a number. Give please. There is a tragic flaw in our precious Constitution, and I don’t know what can be done to fix it. This is it: Only nut cases want to be president.

    With love :-), Hedwig.
